At the conference held in November 2024, the scientific report "Evaluation of visual outcomes after Phaco surgery with Lucidis extended focus intraocular lens" by Dr. Vu Anh Tuan and his colleagues at the Japan International Eye Hospital received the Third Prize.

With solid professional knowledge and nearly 30 years of experience in the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Vu Anh Tuan shared a lot of valuable information in his scientific report and left a deep impression at the conference. Some of the outstanding contents in the research of Dr. Vu Anh Tuan and his colleagues include:

Lucidis artificial lens brings many outstanding advantages, including: minimizing halos and glare, ensuring images with contrast within normal limits. In addition, patients do not need to spend much time adapting to the intraocular lens, and the extended depth of focus (EDOF) feature of Lucidis helps patients achieve good vision in both distance and intermediate vision.
The Lucidis extended focus intraocular lens is manufactured by SWISS ADVANCED VISION (Switzerland), made from 1-piece hydrophilic acrylic and 26% water, with a square edge of over 360 degrees, a total diameter of 10.8 mm and 12.4 mm, and a small incision size of only 2.2 mm. The advantages of this type of artificial lens include instant focus technology, providing good vision in a variety of viewing ranges.
Clinical trial results in 66 eyes with extended focal phaco Lucidis at Japan International Eye Hospital from 6/2023 to 12/2023 showed that:

  • 82% of eyes had correct vision (10/10 vision, no abnormalities in the optical system) after 6 months of surgery. Distance vision was very good, near vision was quite good, intermediate vision was relatively good.
  • 84.6% of eyes did not need glasses at all distances.
  • 0% of eyes experienced halos.
  • The contrast sensation of the Lucidis lens was equal to that of a monofocal artificial lens.
  • Most patients were satisfied with the cost and visual results after surgery.
