Phaco Surgery
Phacoemulsification (or also known as Phaco) was first introduced in 1967 and became common in Vietnam in the late 1990s. It involves making small incisions (around 2 mm) using a blade, tearing the anterior lens cover using surgical instruments and fragmentizing the cloudy lens with high frequency ultrasonic waves, also removing this lens, then replacing it with an artificial lens that fits the eye. This is a popular option for many years and has been proven effective through a great number of successful surgeries.

Laser Cataract Surgery
Laser cataract (also called Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery is an advanced type of lens replacement surgery that uses Femtosecond laser – the most advanced cataract surgical technology today. The Laser Femtosecond is controlled by a computer linked to OCT - optical coherence tomography - to create the incisions, open the lens cover and fragmentize the cloudy lens into small pieces. Then, the fragmentized pieces shall be aspirated using the Phaco probe and replaced by an artificial lens that fits your eye’s conditions. As many manual procedures are assisted by the Femtosecond Laser, the surgery is done gently, accurately, and delivers a faster recovery.
